We are excited to let you know that we are planning our annual Stampede Breakfastto be held on the Kincora playfields on Sunday, July 17th, 2022 from 9:00 am – 12:00 pm.
The cost is $5 per plate for non-KCA members, and FREE for KCA members. You can purchase your 2022 membership at: www.kincora.org. This annual household membership helps to offset the expenses of our community events.
The menu will include pancakes, beef sausages, halal sausages, oranges, bananas, granola bars, coffee, water, and juice boxes. *We sincerely apologize, but gluten-free pancakes will not be available.
If you have availability to volunteer on that day, we have the following 9 volunteer positions available:
Foodservice
o 2 grill cooks (one pancake, one sausage)
o 1 order-taker (communicate with cooks on which hot foods to put on the plate)
o 1 expediter (pass plates back to customers)
o 1 re-stocker (mix pancake batter, re-load juice boxes, fruit, granola bars as needed)
Clean-up
o 1 person to wipe and sanitize tables (guests are encouraged to bring their plates/cutlery to the bins when they are finished eating)
Kid-fun zone management
o 3 bouncy house managers (1 person per station – must manage flow and capacity of bouncy houses. Each castle will have an age restriction of 1 – 4, 5 – 9, and 9+ to ensure safety for smaller children. Only 5 kids are allowed in at a time, for a 4-minute timer. Volunteers are encouraged to bring a charged phone to use as a timer)
Butterfield acres farm
o 1 person to assist farm staff with the flow of traffic into the petting zoo, as well as encourage hand-washing upon entry and exit of the pens
The success of all of our community events is completely volunteer-driven. If you can offer a few hours of your time, please email volunteers@kincora.org with your position preference, as early as possible. As always, duties are flexible. If two people want to switch jobs halfway through the event, that is possible. We provide reference letters to any volunteer who asks, and this is a great way to supplement your resume. Thank you for considering helping keep Kincora a really fun place to live and play!
And lastly –our Stampede Breakfast volunteer director is retiring from the KCA board. We need a replacement! If you love watching people connect and have a great time together, this might be the right gig for you? Training will be provided, and you are welcome to adapt the existing structure to incorporate your style. We encourage you to express your interest as early as possible because we believe that this fun position will be claimed quickly. Volunteers@kincora.org
*Please note that without a replacement volunteer leader for Stampede breakfast, this event may not go ahead in 2023.
Please feel free to reach out with any questions
Sincerely,
Sarah Kromm -VP Kincora Community Association

Strong neighbourhoods are important to the health and well-being of our whole city. When neighbourhoods thrive, the people who live there thrive too.
Neighbour Day started in June 2014 to celebrate the incredible outpouring of support and generosity neighbours demonstrated after the 2013 floods. We want to continue to celebrate one of the things that makes Calgary such a great city — our strong and caring communities.
Neighbour Day now provides the opportunity for Calgarians to celebrate our community spirit, kindness and resilience through the pandemic.
Reach out to your neighbours to help plan your event details, such as:
Invite a small group of nearby neighbours for a backyard or driveway get-together
Set up a neighbourhood scavenger hunt
Decorate your windows, fence or patio
Go for a walk in small groups to explore your neighbourhood and local parks
Organize a virtual meal or BBQ
Organize a small community clean-up using our TLC Kits.
Or make up your own way to celebrate your community spirit (in line with COVID restrictions)
Share your experience with us through social media by using #yycNeighbourDay.
The Kincora Community Association will sponsor any event on Neighbour Day that includes at least 5 homes and invites at least one KCA board member to attend for $100.
Please email president@kincora.org for details.

It’s Spring-cleaning, and many households want to declutter their living spaces. Once again, Kincora Community Association is delighted to organize a community cleanup to help residents get rid of unwanted household items and property waste, thanks to the City of Calgary and Symons Valley United Church’s support. This event saves residents a trip to the landfill for items that do not fit in their waste and recycling carts or for residents who do not have cart service by providing three packer trucks with crews. This service is free to all Calgarians.
Additionally, there will be electronic and metal recycling and household item donations at the cleanup site. Please note there is no compost truck for organic waste (use regular green bins instead).
