Description
LABOUR DAY WEEKEND BBQ
Sunday, September 5, 2021
11:00 am – 3:00 pm
Kincora Fields
For the past year and a half, the Kincora Community Association (KCA) has replaced our regular events with socially distanced ways to bring Kincora residents together, including our Canada Day parade, Holiday light contest, a Drive-in movie night and monthly food-trucks.
This long weekend we will host our first in person community event, a BBQ on Sunday September 5th from 11:00 am – 3:00 pm in the Kincora Fields at 38 Kincora Rise NW.
All KCA member families have free entry! The cost is $5 per plate for households who don’t have an active $20 annual KCA membership. Memberships can be purchased or renewed online at www.kincora.org/register/. If you already have an active KCA membership, THANK YOU! If your child participated in the Community Blizzards soccer program this summer, you have an automatic membership to the KCA. Please be prepared to show your printed membership card or mobile QR code on your phone to receive your family’s lunch plates. You can find or activate your membership card QR code here: https://kincora.org/register/membership-card/
We will be serving hamburgers, halal chicken hot dogs, oranges, bananas, granola bars, juice boxes and water bottles. Our volunteers will be wearing masks throughout the event and attendees can choose whether to wear a mask as well. There will be tables and chairs to eat at, as well as sanitizer on each table, and KCA volunteers who will be going around regularly wiping tables with disinfectant wipes. There will also be sanitizer available around the event.
Butterfield acres will be onsite with their petting zoo. There will be bouncy castles; however, please note MASKS ARE MANDATORY while using the bouncy house. Children will not be permitted into the bouncy castle without a mask on, and jumping shifts will be limited to 3 kids for 3 minutes each. This decision is for the safety of all of our children, because they have not yet had the opportunity to choose to be vaccinated. Thank you for your understanding of this strict safety precaution.
There will be music, games, and a ‘vendor alley’ where local businesses like Co-op, Sage Hill Bottle Depot, Royal Pizza and our own Kincora Residents Association will set up a booth and host some fun games. Calgary Co-op will have a job hiring fair at their booth, to help build their team at the Sage Hill Quarters location on Shaganappi Trail. If you or someone you know is job hunting, bring a resume along!
There is still time for businesses to participate in vendor alley. Please email volunteers@kincora.org for more information.
We require 8 more volunteers for this event. If you’re able to participate, please email volunteers@kincora.org with your full name and we will provide a list of the jobs required, and you are able to choose your preferred position (first come, first served). As always, we are happy to provide reference letters in exchange for community support and volunteers will receive a free dance lesson at Soul Connexxion.
Thank you to everyone who has ever supported the KCA by volunteering and/or attending events. Volunteers are an integral part of our events. Without your support, we simply can’t make these events happen for the community.
We are excited to see you out in the community again, and we promise to do our part to ensure this event is safe and fun for all those who are able to participate.
Best wishes,
The Kincora Community Association
